RHACC is a Specialist Designated Institution for Adult Learning, providing a varied course offer to support the lifelong learning goals of adults. With daytime, evening, weekend and residential courses across two main campuses and in outreach venues, RHACC is able to meet a broad range of needs, and creates pathways to work and wellbeing.

This role will be based in centres in the London Borough of Merton, supporting learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to develop skills to enable them to live full and active lives. The courses will be offered at various locations; current centres include Pollards Hill Library, the Leyton Road Centre and the Jan Malinowski Centre. Subjects include Art and Crafts, basic IT skills, English, Maths, Cooking, Exercise and Drama, with independence and basic skills embedded in all classes. The courses on which we need the support are scheduled across the week. Courses will run term time only across the academic year.  Working patterns will be negotiated with the successful applicant(s), and may include one or more days or perhaps simply one 2.5 hour session per week. This will depend on your skills, interests and background as well as our needs.

We will assign you to a group of learners depending on your background, experience and qualifications. As part of this role, you will help to prepare resources for the learners and assist the tutor in supporting the learners in the classroom. You will be directed by the class tutor to provide support that enables learners to participate and achieve.

Team meetings will be held once a term, paid at training rate.  Please indicate on your application which subject area you would prefer to support – this may be more than one area.  Please also indicate your availability.

As you will be supporting learners to develop basic skills, you should have Level 2+ qualifications in Maths and English.
