Benefits of working at RHACC


The college complies with legislation on auto enrolment and employees may be eligible to join or will be automatically enrolled into a pension scheme.
For academic staff the College administers the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS: and for business support staff, the College administers the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS; Both schemes are contribution based with RHACC making contributions alongside the employee.

Free RHACC courses

Each year, staff are eligible for one free RHACC leisure course (non-funded) and a   50% discount on any RHACC Qualification course. 

Staff Development Training Courses

The College is committed to continuous professional development and aims to support staff in undertaking training directly related to their role.
Training needs for all staff discussed though annual staff appraisals, probationary reviews and teaching observations in order for the College to ensure that staff are well supported. Hourly paid sessional staff are paid to attend team meetings and mandatory training courses.

Discounted Healthcare

As a member of the Association of College’s, staff at RHACC are able to benefit from discounted healthcare cover. 

Benefits of the scheme include

  • Private treatment recommended by a specialist of consultant status.
  • Hospital accommodation charges for private facilities, including ancillary charges for such items as theatre fees,
  • Drugs, dressings, pathology, X-rays, etc.
  • Specialists’ fees charged by surgeons, physicians and anaesthetists.
  • Charges for X-rays, pathology, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, computerised tomography, etc.
  • Operations performed on a day-care basis.
  • In-patient/out-patient consultations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Out-patient physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropractic treatment, if referred by a GP. Initial benefit is £400 in total for up to 10 sessions of treatment.

Travel to the College

The College is conscious of the environmental and health benefits of walking, cycling and using public transport to get to the College and offers the following benefits to encourage this where possible:


RHACC’s Cycle2Work is an HMRC approved salary sacrifice initiative allowing you to hire a bike and accessories from the college for the purpose of cycling to work. The hire is free of Tax and National Insurance.

Public Transport
  • Season Ticket Loan: The colleges season ticket loan scheme enables staff to buy an annual travel card and pay for it in monthly instalments (salary sacrifice), thereby making a large saving compared to buying individual monthly tickets.

Car Parking

The College has limited staff parking spaces located near the parkshot site which is on a first come basis.

  • Eye care vouchers - Staff who regularly use a VDU are eligible for a free eye test as well as various discounts on frames. 
  • Counselling Service - The College operates a free independent telephone counselling Service for staff which provides confidential and professional support and guidance.
  • Crèche - RHACC has on site crèche facilities providing sessional day care for children aged 6 months to 5 years which staff are entitled to use at a discounted rate.
  • Treatments - Trainee beauty and complementary therapists offer treatments to staff and members of the public in the brand new Beauty and Complementary Therapies suite at Parkshot at a discounted rate.  
  • Discounted Software - Employees may be eligible for discounted Microsoft and Adobe software licenses.
