Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College provides an impressive environment to support learning.  We deliver courses to meet the needs, interests and abilities of adults, as well as an exciting events calendar featuring concerts, drama, lectures, workshops, displays and fairs throughout the year.

We are currently recruiting for a Caretaker to work across both of our sites in Richmond and Surbiton. As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for ensuring the College remains clean, safe and secure for all our learners, staff and visitors. This will involve carrying out a range of repairs and maintenance tasks, adhering to health and safety legislation, COSHH and risk assessment policies as well as assisting with setting up rooms and actioning requests through the Colleges Estates Help Desk.  

The successful candidate should have experience working in a similar role, being able to prioritise, problem solve and communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people. The ability to work effectively in a team with minimum supervision and to provide excellent customer service will be essential. 

The hours for this role are 36 per week with the potential for additional hours to cover holidays and out of hours events as and when required. The working pattern includes early, evening and weekend shifts based on a 6 week rolling rota. 

Shift patterns would be a mixture between 6am – 10.30pm, including weekends, most common shifts are:

  • 6am – 2pm 
  • 7.30am – 3.30pm
  • 10am – 6pm
  • 2.30pm – 10.30pm 

Basic carpentry/plumbing/electrical skills are not essential but would be looked upon favourably. Similarly, experience in a building/maintenance/decorating job would be advantageous.
