About the Role

Working as part of the Skills for Life team, you will report to the Programme Manager for Maths.  You will be teaching on a range of accredited and non-accredited courses, including GCSE, Functional Skills and community and outreach classes.  You will also work on developing learning programmes and resources as part of the new government funded Multiply initiative.  This will give you the opportunity to find innovative ways to make maths relevant to local residents by designing courses that would lead to increased confidence in maths, work with employers to upskill staff and with parents to help their children with maths.  The duties on each course will include course planning, preparation, marking homework and classwork and course administration including the monitoring and supporting learners to complete PLPs.  You will be preparing students for internal and external assessments, and providing advice and information about Maths courses to a range of learners.

You will work with your colleagues to ensure high standards in teaching, learning and assessment, and high levels of customer satisfaction.

You will teach an agreed number of hours annually and provide a role model of teaching excellence.

About You

As well as a Degree, which shows that you have the knowledge to teach Maths, applicants should hold a full teaching qualification and have experience of teaching Maths.  Previous teaching experience within an adult setting would be an advantage.  You should be able to teach up to GCSE HT level and Functional Skills level 2 but there may also be work available across Entry levels and Level 1.  As well as qualification based courses, we offer skills based, non-qualification courses for our learners and some experience of RARPA would be an advantage.  Courses are scheduled on weekdays and some evenings with Saturday sessions offered as part of the GCSE course at both our Parkshot (Richmond) and Hillcroft (Surbiton) campuses.  As an established tutor you will be expected to work across both sites as required.  Experience of delivering courses on-line through Microsoft TEAMS will be expected.  However, training will be available for the successful candidate.

As an established tutor you will be expected to complete the administration associated with these courses.  You will also be expected to attend team meetings at least once a term during an academic year.
