Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College is an adult learning provider with a vibrant and wide-ranging offer of courses for adults of all ages and abilities, enabling them to participate in learning for work, life and improve their wellbeing. We have two sites, one in Richmond, and one in Surbiton, with exceptional newly built facilities for art and design and performing arts at the Richmond site.
RHACC is seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as the Head of Art and Design. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of adult learners of all abilities and backgrounds, enabling them to achieve their work and wellbeing goals. You will also oversee the implementation of appropriate support systems to help learners reach their full potential and ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, and assessment.
About you:
Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning you will be part of the team managing the Art and Design provision. You will provide supportive line management to established and variable-hours teachers delivering accredited and non-accredited Art and Design provision for adults from complete beginners to more advanced artists. You will also manage a Programme Manager and Art Technical Team Leader. You will develop an engaging curriculum offer which meets the needs and interests of our adult learning communities.
You will work as part of the management team to achieve high standards in teaching, learning and assessment, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
You will ensure that quality targets are achieved, and that the curriculum is delivered as efficiently as possible. You will teach an agreed number of hours annually and provide a role model of teaching excellence.
Candidates should have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification and a teaching qualification, and it would be desirable to have both management and teaching experience in this curriculum area. A strong preference will be given to candidates with a breadth of curriculum management experience, and partnership work.
