Are you passionate about education and the difference it can make to people’s lives?   We are one of only seven institutes of adult learning nationally, with a focus on the learning needs of adults.  Our mission is to enable adults and communities to thrive through education through helping those we can to open new doors, provide opportunities and improve wellbeing.  We are proud to be different, taking pride in our unique character and our inclusive approach to learning.

The role:

Working as part of the Skills for Life team, you will report to the Programme Manager for Maths. You may be teaching on a range of accredited and non-accredited courses, including GCSE, Functional Skills and community and outreach classes. The duties on each course will include course planning, preparation, marking homework and classwork and course administration including the monitoring and supporting learners to complete PLPs. You will be preparing students for internal and external assessments. You will also support with providing advice and information about Maths courses to a range of learners. We are particularly looking for tutors to teach in outreach centres during the day (for example Ham Children’s centre), teaching distance learning Maths courses, multiply Maths courses and at our Hillcroft Centre in Surbiton in evenings and/or weekends.

You will work with your colleagues to ensure high standards in teaching, learning and assessment, and high levels of customer satisfaction.

About you:

As well as a Degree which shows that you have the knowledge to teach Maths, applicants should hold a full teaching qualification and have experience of teaching Maths. Previous teaching experience within an adult setting would be an advantage. As well as qualification based courses, we offer skills based, non-qualification courses for our learners and some experience of RARPA would be an advantage.
